What Is Community Sponsorship?

There is an ongoing and urgent need right now for welcoming refugees.

When HHR was founded in 2016, there were 22.5 million refugees. Today,
there are now 32.5 million refugees worldwide! According to the United Nations High Commission on Refugees, (UNHCR), “Resettlement remains the key tool for the international community to provide urgently needed solutions for refugees most at risk.”

Here in the Lower Hudson Valley and beyond, private citizens are a local solution to this global refugee crisis. Hearts & Homes organizes, mentors and assists volunteer groups or individuals, known as Community Sponsors willing to provide time and resources to refugees for up to 12 months.
